Tai Chi and Qigong in the Mental-Body Health Programme
Traditional healing meets modern therapy at the Verus Bonifatius Hospital
Tai Chi and Qigong are centuries-old Chinese mind-body practices rooted in traditional philosophy, emphasizing the harmonious flow of qi (vital energy) and balance between complementary forces (yin and yang). These gentle, low-impact exercises combine slow, flowing movements with mindful breathing and focused attention, making them accessible to all ages and fitness levels.
Research confirms regular practice improves strength, flexibility, balance, and mental well-being while reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. Emerging evidence supports therapeutic applications for Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, and cardiovascular conditions.
Notably, Verus Bonifatius Hospital (affiliated with Switzerland’s Singularity Academy) recently pioneered this integration through its exclusive Mental-Body Health Program. From July 14-29, 2025, participants engaged in an immersive retreat at China’s Wudang Mountain, featuring:
- Authentic Tai Chi/Qigong master training
- Personalized protocols combining acupuncture, herbal medicine, psychotherapy, nature immersion, and dietary therapy
Looking ahead, Verus Bonifatius Hospital will host renowned Wudang Tai Chi/Qigong masters for in-hospital patient sessions, with co-founder/CEO/Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and TCM Specialist – Dr. Ying Zhang periodically leading classes. This holistic approach underscores Tai Chi and Qigong’s evolution from ancient practice to clinically validated, cross-cultural wellness solution.
